3 Day Refresh Review and Results

WANT A CLEAN BREAK
FROM BAD HABITS?

My Review and Results after doing the 3 Day Refresh

I was extremely happy with my results!!!  After completing the 3 day refresh I lost 6lbs, but more importantly it helped me jumpstart my workout program and break some bad habits.  It has been 10 days since completing the 3 Day Refresh and I have kept the 6lbs off and lost more continuing with my PiYo exercise and nutrition plan.

Day one of the 3 Day Refresh was all about mental toughness.  After feeding your body whatever crap you want you have lots of triggers and cravings.  You have to be mentally prepared to stick with the program.  What did make it easier was knowing it was only for 3 days.  I figured I could do anything for 3 days and I really wanted to stick with it to see the results.

Day two I had a killer headache.  This could have been from many different things.  During the 3 Day Refresh you do not have any caffeine, soda and will be cutting most carbs (sugar) and meat.  I didn't have wheat or grains.  So there was a lot of things my body was detoxing from.

Day three felt like easy sailing.  By this day I had to tell myself to eat.  I felt like I could have gone a few more days at this point. And I felt good.

Morning of day four I was pretty excited to jump on the scale.  Not going to lie, I was also pretty excited about my cup of coffee. LOL

I have been eating a lot more vegan meals since the Refresh. They had some great recipes included for the dinner meals. I really liked how it helped jumpstart my weight loss and plan on doing it again in the future.  2 thumbs up!!!

2013 AQS Quilt Week

My daughter and I went to our very first Quilt Festival last October.  Got off work on Friday night and drove to Des Moines, IA, only a short 3 hour drive away from our home.  We had a blast singing on the way up in the car, my radio wasn't working so we just made our own music.  Good thing my daughter knows the lyrics to almost every song I threw at her! Stayed downtown at the Marriott, only a few blocks from the Iowa Events Center.

Took tons of pictures!  Click to view over 200 photos uploaded to my Flickr album.  Sorry they aren't the best quality, only have the camera on my phone.  Each picture should have a snapshot before or after it of the card displaying the name of the quilt and who quilted it.

Happy New Year!

The New Year is a time that a lot of people use to reflect and set new goals or "resolutions".  In setting my goals for 2014 and doing my own soul searching lately I have come to the conclusion that resolutions, for the most part, don't stick because they are really just "dreams" that people are throwing around.  You know people say "I would like to quit smoking" or "I would like to lose weight" or "I would like to fill in the blank". Personally I would like to do a lot of things, and as long as I phrase it like that I will keep on liking to do it someday.  We need to set concrete definable measureable goals.  Write them down, be specific, re-read them or re-write them everyday.

Today I watched a great New Years Day video from Tony Robbins (thanks mom for forwarding it to me) where he talks about Raising Your Standards.  It is our standards and values that allow us to be okay with where we are and to not really make the change and start the new rituals it takes to accomplish our goals.  We say we "should" lose weight.  We "should" quit smoking. We "should" eat healthy.  Instead we need to Raise Our Standards and stop saying should and start saying MUST.  I must lose weight and I will not settle for anything less.  I will do anything it takes to make that a reality.  Can you hear the difference?

Raise Your Standards and Change Your Should to Must!

Happy New Year!!

Second Chances

I've been gone for awhile.  Been a tough year, had a mini mid-life crisis. LOL

My kids are in 12th and 11th grade, graduating soon and leaving for college.  My husband and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary and I got a new job in April. Did I mention that I have 2 teenagers, 15 months apart in age! All this sounds like great things, and they are, I know I am truly blessed and count my many blessings daily.  These are also HUGE milestones in my life that has caused me to do a lot of self evaluation and sometimes that can be tough.  I am recognizing the hard truth that the time is going to pass whether or not you do the things you say you are going to do or not. I turn 40 in 2015 and I have come to the conclusion that unless I start DOING the things I say I want to do, that I will be sitting right where I am now when I turn 50.  That is something I do NOT want to happen.

Let's get started together!  What are some of your BIG goals for 2014? Here are a few of mine, please share yours!

1. Lose 60lbs
2. Scuba Diving Certification
3. Attend Team Beachbody Coach Summit in Las Vegas in June

Girls Day!

#NoBoysAllowed

Saturday was a fun filled day!  First it started with spending the early afternoon with my daughter at Oceans of Fun.  This is special mom and daughter time.  We have fun being knocked around in the wave pool and going round and round in the lazy river.  We are able to just talk and talk and there are no interruptions from the phones, text messages or others.  It is great!

After getting my Vitamin D dose for the day I got ready to head out with the big girls, Denise & Rebecca.  We ended up at NoRTH in Leawood, KS.  Modern Italian Cuisine with freshly made pasta - OOOH it was good.  We spent a few hours there chatting over dinner and drinks.

We decided the evening couldn't be over yet!  We headed back to Rebecca's place to continue the chat fest and have Rebecca do Denise and I's nails.  You have to follow Rebecca on Instagram to get tons of great #NailArt ideas!  I forgot to take a picture of Denise's nails but they looked just like this, Mickey/Minnie Mouse inspired.

Ended the evening at home, snuggling up to my littlest baby girl. :)

Vanilla Shakeology is here!

So super stoked for Vanilla Shakeology!  It has been a long time in the making.  Honestly, I didn't think it would ever happen.  So proud of Beachbody for staying true to the formula and not bending on the integrity of Shakeology.
